THE BEGINNINGS
OF THE BEEKEEPING FRENADEMETZ

In 2001, my father started beekeeping – out of a passion for nature and a fascination with bees. With great dedication and craftsmanship, he gradually built up a small but fine apiary.

When he suddenly passed away in 2019, he left behind not only a great void, but also 25 bee colonies that now had to be cared for without him.

For my mother and me, this meant a completely new beginning. Overnight, we were faced with the task of taking over an apiary without any real knowledge or experience. But our love for bees and the memory of my father gave us the strength to continue on this path.

With a lot of effort, learning and countless hours of work, we worked together to develop my father’s legacy into a family beekeeping business that not only produces honey, but also keeps a piece of his passion and legacy alive. From difficult beginnings, a joint venture grew – supported by hard work, solidarity and the will to continue the tradition that my father had once started.

What began as an attempt to preserve my father’s life’s work developed into a genuine passion over the years. The first uncertain steps became established routines, and the initial concern about not being able to meet the demands grew into pride and joy in working with the bees.

With each season, we learned more about the delicate interplay between humans, animals and nature. We began not only to harvest honey, but also to understand and communicate the value of bees as an indispensable part of our ecosystem. This led to a small beekeeping project with scoolchildren – Bee Day.

This project developed into something wonderful: the children’s enthusiasm, curiosity and amazement reminded us again and again why we were continuing. Something vibrant and sustainable emerged from the pain of loss – an apiary that not only produces honey, but also passes on knowledge, enthusiasm and responsibility for nature.

Thus, my father’s legacy became not only a family history, but also a matter close to our hearts, which we are privileged to share with the next generation.
